Sub Synchronous Oscillation Studies - Part 2 (2 Hours)

  • 3 Steps

Program Details

Instructor: Dr. Sam Maleki Duration: 2 hours Advanced Training on Sub-Synchronous Oscillations (SSO), Sub-Synchronous Control Interaction (SSCI), Sub-Synchronous Ferro Resonance (SSFR), and Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) This specialized course is designed for engineers with a minimum of 3 years of experience in power system studies and transient analysis. The course will cover advanced topics in sub-synchronous oscillations (SSO), sub-synchronous control interaction (SSCI), sub-synchronous ferro resonance (SSFR), and sub-synchronous resonance (SSR), focusing on both conventional power plants and inverter-based resources (IBR). Part 2 (Hands-on experience with PSCAD): • Network Conversion Requirements: Delve into the technical requirements for adapting the network to accommodate advanced control and protection systems. • Hands-on Simulation: Gain practical experience simulating SSO, SSR, SSCI, and SSFR events, with a focus on transient analysis and stability studies. • SSO Damping Controllers: Learn about the implementation of damping controllers to mitigate sub-synchronous oscillations. • SSFR Protection Techniques: Understand the methods of protecting the network from the risks associated with sub-synchronous ferro resonance. Key Features: • Comprehensive coverage of key oscillatory modes in both conventional and IBR-integrated power systems. • In-depth training on SSR, SSCI, SSO, and SSFR phenomena. • Hands-on simulations to develop practical skills in transient analysis and system stability.
